25-year-old teacher bags Mrs Malaysia Globe 2014 title

IT WAS a celebration of beauty, intelligence and empowerment for the 11 women participating in the grand finals of the 2014 Mrs Malaysia Globe pageant.

Organised by MW Network Sdn Bhd for the second year running, License by ERM Marketing Sdn Bhd, the competition provided a platform for married women to show their physical and inner beauty, regardless of age and occupation.

MW Network chief executive officer Angela Ngoo, said the pageant was open to wives, mothers and career women.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah was the guest of honour at the gala dinner and pageant held in JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur.

A charity auction managed to raise nearly RM2mil for the Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah.

The contestants performed on stage before proceeding to the question-and-answer session where they were quizzed on various issues.

They were judged on criteria such as stage personality, general appearance, grooming, confidence and communication skills.

Malaysian-born Hong Kong actress Mimi Chu and Taiwanese artiste Vicky Tseng entertained the crowd while the judges made their decision.

The panel of judges included Malaysian actress Lavin Seow, Mr Alex Liu, the License holder for Mrs. Malaysia Globe and the past year’s champion Somaya Ong.

Josephine Lim Vonbee walked away with the coveted title of Mrs Malaysia Globe 2014.

She received RM20,000 worth of cash and products, while the first runner-up Elin Cheah and second runner-up Fhelynn Ang took home RM15,000 and RM10,000 respectively.1391774_10151712118267816_802181989_n

Lim said it was her first time joining a beauty pageant and it had been an eye-opening experience.

“It’s not so much a physical celebration of beauty, but the overall package. It’s also an effective platform for highlighting social issues,” said the 25-year-old teacher who loves outdoor sports and is active in environmental projects.

“I am planning to use this opportunity for the causes I am involved in such as green-and- clean projects, marine and nature conservation, charity missions and helping victims of domestic violence,” she said.

Lim will be representing Malaysia in the 2014 Mrs Globe Pageant to be held in Palm Spring, California, USA.
