19 Finalists to vie for 5 Miss Malaysia 2014 Titles

KUALA LUMPUR: The much-awaited Miss Global International Malaysia 2014 (MGIM 2014) pageant week starts on 7th August.

After a series of auditions and interviews that commenced in April nationwide, 19 finalists have been selected and will be vying for the coveted titles of Miss International and Miss Supranational, and three major titles of Miss Intercontinental, Miss Globe International and World Miss University.

These beautiful, talented and outspoken finalists hail from all over the country including Sri Aman, Limbang, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.

Organised by MerveilleuxM Production and Peoplegraphy Studio and co-organised by ZW Consultancy, the pageant week, in its fourth year running, is aimed at empowering women and celebrating the beauty, diversity and culture among young Malaysians.

During the pageant week, the finalists will be judged on their personality, beauty, communication skills and stage appearance while participating in various charity, tourism and educational activities leading up to the grand finale on Aug 17 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

The five title winners will represent Malaysia at the world level.

  1. Miss International 2014 Pageant – world final at Japan from 26th Oct to 12th Dec
  2. Miss Supranational 2014 Pageant – world final at Poland from 16th Nov to 6th Dec
  3. Miss Intercontinental 2014 Pageant – world final at Jordan from 6th to 27th Oct
  4. Miss Globe International 2014 Pageant – world final at Albania in the month of Nov
  5. World Miss University 2014 Pageant – world final at Korea in the month of Dec

MerveilleuxM Production managing director Marlene Lim said: “This marks a major milestone for MGIM which started as the only national beauty pageant in East Malaysia, and this year, we wanted to bring it to greater heights by hosting five coveted international titles.

“We are excited to host the first competition to crown and send a Malaysian representative to the Miss International and Miss Supranational pageant in Tokyo and Poland respectively.

“MGIM is all about empowering women, building their future and inspiring a generation of independent and modern women.

“We want to celebrate real, outstanding women who are not afraid to be themselves and go the distance, stand for their beliefs while representing the epitome of elegance, confidence and strong character.”

MGIM 2014 will be judged by a panel of renowned and respected veterans in the industry including Carol Lee (first Malaysian and Asian to win Mrs Universe 2013 in Aruba), Rahima Orchient Yayah (Miss Malaysia World 1994 winner, Top 10 Miss World 1994 finalist) and Chris Tong (Mediacorp artiste, Golden Awards 2014 Top 5 Best Actresses, Miss Chinese Cosmos 2006 winner).

The rest of the judging panel will be revealed at the grand finale. The total winning cash and prizes are worth up to RM100,000.

Among the subsidiary titles that will also be awarded are Miss Body Beautiful Strip, Miss Face Beautiful by MEME Clinic, Miss XES Elegant by XES Shoes, Miss Congeniality RedOne, Miss Popularity by Delirium Concept, Miss Photogenic by Peoplegraphy, Miss Talent by ZW Consultancy, and Miss Charm International.

The competition has supported many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Persatuan Autistik Miri, Sunflower Centre, Miri Home for the Aged and Hospital Miri Children’s Ward.

Part of the proceeds of this event will be channelled to several NGOs.
