Classic Finalist Mrs FinalistMrs. Malaysia Asia International 2015 Pageant was held on 18th April at the Galaxy Convention Hall, Sentul Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Two beauty consultants Cynthia Yee Hui Len, who has never taken part in a pageant before, and Joanne Lou Kuang Fong an experienced pageant participant, pulled off a nail-biting win at the grand finals of the 4th edition of Mrs Malaysia Asia International 2015 which took place on April 18, 2015 at Galaxy Banquet Hall in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.

The pageant was opened to married women and broken down into two categories: Mrs (age 20-45) and Classic (age 46 & above).

First to be crowned was Yee, aged 37, who beat out 11 other contestants for the Mrs Malaysia Asia International title and next, in the Classic category, Lou, aged 51 won over the other 10 contestants.

Each took home total prize worth RM14,240 including cash RM2,000.

Both Yee and Lou will represent Malaysia at the international finals of Mrs Asia International 2015 which will take place in Kuala Lumpur on June 13 this year with participating countries like Singapore, Thailand, China, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Philippines and host Malaysia.

In line with the pageant theme “Save Mother Earth, celebrate beauty life”, participants showcased their creativity side during the DIY creative wear round where they paraded in beautiful clothing made from different recycled materials.

As part of their charity activities, the Mrs Malaysia Asia International 2015 pageant presented mock cheques totaling RM18,000 to five charity societies.

In an interview with Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY), Yee, who also won the Mrs Popularity and Best in Traditional Wear subsidiary titles said she was very happy with the win and grateful for the support and blessings she received from family members and friends.

“I participated in my first ever pageant and I won. I would like to thank my husband, family members and friends for being there to fully support me. I could not have done it without their confidence in me and encouragement during my journey to the pageant.

“This was my first pageant experience and a great one. I have learned and experienced a lot of new things different to my normal routine,” she said, adding that she entered the pageant because of its environmental awareness theme of protecting Mother Earth.

“I will do my part to conserve our beautiful planet and hopefully to inspire others to do the same.”

The mother of two children said she keeps fit and beautiful by eating a balanced diet and always get herself into a happy mood to maintain her beauty and self-confidence.

“I will continue contributing to society by supporting charitable activities so that my life would be more colorful and meaningful.”

Classic winner Joanne Lou said that win or lose, she was here for the experience.

“This is my number seventh pageant. I like the stage, hanging myself on it and just having fun out there.

“This contest is different from earlier pageants I had entered because this time I learned a lot for myself. I would like to thank the organisers Venus Cheng and Karen Tan for the wonderful and memorable experience,” she said.

Her previous titles won included Miss Raintree Club 1986 (winner), Miss Lamy Cosmetic 1985 (winner), Miss Malaysia Universe 1985 (fourth runner-up) and Mrs Super Model 1991 (first runner-up).

She said her husband was not 100% in agreement to her participation in beauty contests but did stop her doing either.

“I was attracted to the contest because of its unique theme of saving Mother Earth and I want to do my part in creating more awareness to protect the environment.

“I am already 51 with three grown-up children and I do exercising regularly, eating right and eating less meat and by smiling always,” she said when asked on her secret of keeping herself fit and staying beautiful all these years.

Her hobbies include swimming, dancing, singing and reading books.

She explained how important it was for women like her to take care for themselves, do the right things to stay healthy and enjoy a happy life.

“Our social lives do no have to be stuck in a rut when we are married. I mix around making more friends and keeping the ones I have.  They help me to live a healthier and happier life.”

The Mrs Malaysia Asia International 2015 pageant was organised by Eternal Phoenix which also choreographed the opening act.

“We are very glad to be given the opportunity to organise the 2015 Mrs Malaysia Asia International pageant. We had arranged a lot of pageant activities, including the Gotong Jaya camp, for the finalists and they had shown their cooperation, hard work and dedication from start till the grand finals.

“We would like to thank all the finalists for really putting a lot of effort into training and preparation to make our 2015 pageant grand finals a great success,” said Eternal Phoenix president Venus Cheng, who was assisted by vice-president Karen Tan in the well-organised event.
