KUALA LUMPUR — Married women take heed.

The search is on for married women to showcase their confidence, intelligence and beauty at the inaugural Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen and Classic Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017 beauty pageants.

Organised by Sentinel Pageant Sdn Bhd, under licence by Exclusive Resources Marketing Pte Ltd (ERM), the competition offers two categories — Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen for married Malaysian women or permanent residents, aged 25 to 40, and Classic Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen for those aged 41 and above.

The winner will represent Malaysia at the Mrs Tourism Queen International to be held in Malaysia for the first time in April next year.

Pageant director Jenet Foo said the Mrs Tourism Queen International is the sister-pageant of the famous Miss Tourism Queen International.

The winner pf Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen pageant, Foo said, would wear a unique crown designed and customised by her.

“It is adorned with pearls and crystal gems that reflect an alluring lilac hue. Lilac is the colour of grace, beauty and elegance and has been associated with royalty,” she said.

“It also represents the uniqueness of an individual. The crown symbolises a married woman and is also an external reflection of a queen’s inner beauty.”

Foo said they chose pearls because in Chinese tradition, pearls signify wellness and happiness.

The crown is valued at RM50,000.

“The pageant aims to empower and connect more married women, be they home-makers, business women or entrepreneurs,” Foo added.

“Being married with two children myself, the world does not end there. It is a new beginning for us to remain beautiful, elegant and confident.”

Foo said today’s married women can contribute to the nation’s vision of promoting Malaysia as a tourist destination to the world.

At the launch, Foo was made an ERM Beauty Ambassador by Alex Liu, founder and president of Miss and Mrs Tourism Queen International Pageants.

Registration fee for the competition is RM500. The closing date for registration is June 10. This will be followed by an audition which will be announced soon.

Finalists will go on a tour to promote tourism.

The grand finale will be at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Nov 24.
